Wassily Kandinsky, 2015, Taschen Basic Art
Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) was a Russian painter who became a foundational figure in abstract art. Living and working in Germany and France, he is recognized as a chief theoretician of abstract painting. Kandinsky sought to create a pure concord of color, influenced by music's harmonic effects. His art evolved away from representational objects, culminating in his First Abstract Watercolour in 1910. He co-founded the artist group Der Blaue Reiter in Munich.
