In this work, Max Dalton takes the conceit of contrary ideas a step further than most. With a limited palette of rust, teal and black, and a cast of characters that ranges from acrobats to knights to sumo wrestlers, Mr Dalton’s sharp-edged illustrations dramatize scenes that are simply too-too.
