Cassie is old enough to walk to the nearby vacant lot without her parents, only with her older brother. But she's too young to join his boisterous group of friends. Her solitary walks became a familiar part of her childhood, a quiet backdrop to her days. However, this solitude led to a surprising discovery: a family of red foxes, cleverly hidden among the overgrown weeds.
Quiet and gentle Cassie, to her own astonishment, formed an unlikely bond with these wild creatures. Her heart was particularly captured by one fox kit – the bravest and most ginger of them all. Their friendship blossomed, reaching incredible heights: the little fox, overcoming his natural fear, even took treats directly from Cassie's hand – delicious slices of sausage!
This idyllic friendship was threatened only by a grumpy and unpleasant neighbor, who hated the foxes and demanded their immediate removal. A shadow of fear hung over Cassie and the foxes' fragile bond. Then, one day, a pitiful whimper echoed beneath Cassie's window… The ginger fox kit! What happened? Had the neighbor carried out her threats? Cassie froze in terror, unsure what awaited her and her newfound friends.
