Investigator Bragin confronts a mysterious murder: the fifth victim is found in a lake, submerged in thin ice. The woman was strangled, and there are virtually no traces at the crime scene. Bragin realizes the killer is acting methodically and cautiously, leaving no clues. Time is running out, and solving the case seems increasingly distant. The investigation is complicated by the fact that the murders occur in places where the victims will not be disturbed.
