After a catastrophic accident at a biological‑weapon facility, a lone survivor escapes carrying the lethal virus known as Captain Tripps, a rapidly mutating influenza that decimates most of humanity within weeks. In the devastated world, the remaining people split into two camps: one follows an elderly Black woman who leads them to Boulder, the other follows the dark figure Randall Flagg, who has established a stronghold in Las Vegas.
