The Left-Handed Booksellers of London
Garth Nix, 2021
Overview
In a slightly alternate London of 1983, Susan Arkshaw embarks on a quest to find her father. Her search leads her to an extended family of magical fighting booksellers who police the mythical Old World when it intrudes upon the modern. These booksellers, both left-handed and right-handed, operate several bookshops while guarding the boundary between realities.
Susan's investigation begins with fragmented clues from her mother, a ticket from a reading room, and an engraved silver cigarette case. Meanwhile, Merlin, a young left-handed bookseller, is on his own mission to find the entity responsible for his mother's death.
As Merlin and his sister Vivien investigate a cold case, their quest unexpectedly intersects with Susan's. Together, they must uncover the truth about Susan's father and the Old World's dangerous incursions into the New.
