This second installment in a historical fantasy saga unfolds during the Great Migration period, from spring to autumn of 633 AD. The narrative centers on the quest for the enigmatic Chart, spanning territories from the future Moscow to the borders of France and China. The novel explores the interactions among Slavic, Finno-Ugric, and other tribes, detailing their customs and way of life during the nascent stages of Russian ethnogenesis. While the Chart is a vital component of a navigational device for its true owners, it is perceived as gold by the Slavs, Varangians, and Franks, and as a means of understanding the world by the thinker Ragday.
