Павел Волков сталкивается с чередой трагедий: нелепая смерть старого друга, выпавшего из окна, и распад отношений с любимой женой. Охваченный чувством вины и несправедливости, он ощущает, что лучшие годы остались в прошлом, а настоящее кажется невыносимым. Его отчаяние усиливается, когда он видит шестилетнего ребенка, оставшегося сиротой после смерти бабушки, и чувствует себя ответственным даже за это чужое горе. Однако Волков решает разобраться во всем, иначе жизнь теряет смысл. Он намерен найти виновных в смерти друга и сделать свой выбор, осознавая, что выход есть всегда. В конце концов, обретя покой и смелость, он понимает, что счастье возможно не только в мечтах о прошлом, но и в настоящем.
Pavel Volkov faces a series of tragedies: the absurd death of an old friend who fell from a window, and the collapse of his relationship with his beloved wife. Overwhelmed by guilt and a sense of injustice, he feels that his best years are behind him, and the present seems unbearable. His despair deepens when he encounters a six-year-old orphan whose grandmother has died, feeling responsible even for this distant sorrow. Nevertheless, Volkov resolves to unravel the mysteries and make sense of his life, believing that otherwise, living is pointless. He is determined to find those responsible for his friend's death and to make his own choices, understanding that there is always a way forward. Ultimately, as he finds peace and courage, he realizes that happiness is possible not only in the idealized past but also in the present.
