A woman's body is discovered in Bern, bearing a mysterious symbol carved into her chest. This is not the killer's only victim. Dutch profiler Marten S. Sneijder and BKA commissioner Sabine Nemez launch a hunt for the perpetrator, but the killer seems to stay one step ahead. Meanwhile, young psychology specialist Hannah arrives at "Steinfels," a prison for mentally ill offenders, to conduct group therapy sessions. Her sole interest lies in inmate Piet van Loon, whom Sneijder once imprisoned. Both experienced investigators and the novice psychologist are drawn into a devilish game with no clear winner.
