Brinn Finley is starting middle school and happens to be the only mermaid in her class unable to perform magic! Without magical abilities, she cannot become a sea guardian like all the other mermaids. Trying to solve her problem, the little mermaid contacts the powerful sea witch Phaedra, but only gets more entangled in deceit, because in exchange for help, the witch demands a favor in return, and her intentions are not good.
