The novel follows Yona Meltzer, a Jerusalem tour guide leading an ordinary life filled with personal struggles. His girlfriend decides to leave him, his veteran grandfather is at odds with the world, and financial and health issues plague him. While guiding a Russian oligarch through Jerusalem, including a visit to the Western Wall, events take a dramatic turn. A recently deceased famous kabbalist predicted the arrival of the Messiah, and all signs point to Yona. Suddenly, a man unable to manage his own problems must confront the challenges of all humanity.
