Compiled around the turn of the first and second millennia by an unknown medieval compiler, The First Vatican Mythographer contains 233 narratives of varying lengths. These accounts are primarily drawn from the works of Roman authors of the 2nd-5th centuries, including Servius, Lactantius, Fulgentius, and Hyginus, as well as medieval theologians Isidore of Seville and Remigius of Auxerre. This collection offers a unique insight into the prevailing interpretations of ancient myths during the final centuries of the Roman Empire. This translation marks the first time this work is available in Russian, completing the publication of extant sources on ancient mythography.
