Transferred to a new high school in Tokyo, Akira Kurusu is given a chance at rehabilitation. He awakens to a new power: the ability to manifest one's true self, a Persona. Alongside his friends, Akira becomes a phantom thief, using his Persona and the navigation app Mementos to help people overcome their twisted desires.
After being framed for assault, Akira enrolls in Shujin Academy on probation. His first day leads him to Ryuji Sakamoto and an unexpected discovery of a castle in an alternate reality. There, Akira confronts the schoolteacher Kamoshida and awakens his Persona, but Kamoshida's actions lead to a tragedy in the real world.
