Giant, technologically superior aliens have conquered Earth, but humankind survives, even flourishes in a way. Humans live like mice in the massive walls of the aliens' homes, scurrying underfoot and stealing from their colossal hosts. A complex social and religious order has evolved, with women preserving knowledge and acting as healers, while men serve as warriors and thieves. The aliens view humans as mere vermin, a perspective that may ironically become humanity's greatest strength.
