This book analyzes recent Anglo-American scholarship on Early Rus' statehood from the 9th to the 12th centuries, much of which is unfamiliar to Russian readers as it has not been previously published in Russia. Author A.V. Fedosov examines prominent works by Anglo-American scholars from the 1970s to the present, identifying key trends and achievements in contemporary Rus' studies. The second part features a translation of "The Rus' Kingdom" by Christian Raffensperger, a leading US-based researcher. Raffensperger posits that Rus', at least until the 13th century, was an integral part of the broader European cultural and political landscape, evidenced by dynastic ties, cultural exchanges, and religious connections. The work offers a novel perspective on the titles of early Rus' rulers and their parallels with Western European counterparts.
