Kitty visits a toy store with her mother to find her first doll. Instead of a doll that walks and talks, Kitty selects a simple rag doll. This doll cannot perform actions like sleeping on its own. However, Kitty can engage her imagination, pretending the doll cries, sleeps, and speaks. As she walks home, Kitty holds her new companion close, imagining it expresses love.
