В «Хатынскай аповесці» белорусский прозаик демонстрирует способность литературного слова передавать эмоциональный накал событий времени войны, невыносимый боль белорусских женщин и детей, которые пережили собственную пагибель. В аповесці «Нямко» апавядаецца пра каханне нямецкага салдата Франца і беларускай дзяўчыны Паліны ў час акупацыі і ў пасляваенны перыяд. Юныя героі кіруючыся ў сваіх паводзінах простымі правіламі агульначалавечай маралі і законамі прыроды. Яны змаглі захаваць сваё каханне, адолець шматлікія перашкоды, абсурднасці сітуацыі і выйсці з выпрабаванняў маральнымі пераможцамі над шматаблічным злом.

In "Khatyn Story," the Belarusian prose writer demonstrates the ability of the literary word to convey the emotional intensity of the events of wartime, the unbearable pain of Belarusian women and children who survived their own destruction. The story "Nyamko" tells about the love of a German soldier, Franz, and a Belarusian girl, Polina, during the occupation and in the post-war period. The young heroes are guided in their behavior by the simple rules of universal morality and the laws of nature. They were able to preserve their love, overcome many obstacles, the absurdity of the situation, and emerge from the trials as moral victors over multifaceted evil.
