This monograph explores the development of the concept of "humility" in antiquity, Holy Scripture, and Greek patristics of the 1st-3rd centuries. The author demonstrates that humility is a unique Christian virtue. The study analyzes the use of the concept in ancient texts and compares it with ancient moral ideals. It explores the Old Testament concept of spiritual poverty and the New Testament concept of humility, as well as their interpretation in early patristics.
