Set against the backdrop of the Mississippi River in 1861, this is a story of survival and the pursuit of freedom. James, an enslaved man, overhears plans to sell him to a new owner in New Orleans, separating him from his wife and daughter. Desperate, he flees to Jackson’s Island to devise a plan.
Meanwhile, Huck Finn, weary of his abusive father, fakes his own death to escape. Their paths converge, leading to a perilous journey down the Mississippi River, toward the elusive promise of the free states. Each bend in the river presents both hope and danger. Together, James and Huck embark on a life-altering odyssey, testing their friendship and challenging their perceptions of the world.
