The world of Gigran is divided by a mountain range into the South and the North. The South thrives in a world of magic, still battling dark sorcerers, while the North has reached an era of industrialization with steam trains and airships, unaware of magic. Most inhabitants of both regions believe there is no life beyond the mountains. Only a few are privy to the true state of affairs and spare no effort or lives to maintain it. Leon is forced to learn about Gigran's structure firsthand, though he never asked for it.
