A woman is found dead, struck by a poisoned dart, within the confined space of a commercial airplane. Hercule Poirot, a passenger, is in a prime position to observe the other travelers. His attention is drawn to various individuals, including a young woman infatuated with a man across the aisle, a Countess with a noticeable cocaine habit, and a crime writer preoccupied with an aggressive wasp. Unbeknownst to Poirot initially, a lifeless body lies slumped in a seat behind him.
