Coronary stenting has become a cornerstone of interventional cardiology over the past twenty-five years. Current options include bare metal stents (BMS) and drug-eluting stents (DES), each with variations in delivery systems, sizes, structures, metal compositions, and anti-proliferative agents. The field faces ongoing discussions regarding late stent thrombosis with early DES generations and the off-label use of stents for various lesion types. Furthermore, the optimal duration of dual anti-platelet therapy following stent implantation requires further examination.
