This work investigates the landscape of leftist art and poetry emerging in the wake of state socialism, specifically within the Russian-language avant-garde. It follows a group of poets, including Kirill Medvedev, Pavel Arseniev, and Aleksandr Skidan, who are actively redefining radical art beyond the Soviet legacy. These poets, connected through the journal [Translit], are committed to explicitly political poetry and have formed a network resisting the current political climate. They critically engage with both historical avant-garde traditions and contemporary global discourse, aiming to restore leftist political poetry to prominence and envision an egalitarian socialist future.
