The world plunged into chaos after nuclear strikes, and Russia fractured into numerous neo-feudal principalities. Dmitry Stolbov and his friends found themselves in the city of Uglich, where war caught them during an archaeological expedition. Cut off from their former lives, they were forced to learn to fight to survive.
Now they are mercenaries, the detachment of "The Archaeologist," tasked with protecting civilians caught between warring factions. A serious struggle for power is imminent.
