Modern electron microscopy, enhanced by recent breakthroughs, now provides extensive quantitative data on structure, dynamics, and function. It is poised to offer new spatially and temporally resolved insights crucial for exploring condensed matter across physical and biological sciences. By integrating the time domain with spatial information through timed, coherent single-electron pulses of femtosecond duration, 4D electron microscopy enables imaging of phenomena like structural phase transitions and melting at unprecedented speed and detail.
